Commercial entrances across Glasgow and the Central Belt take a level of punishment that catalogue specifications rarely anticipate. Driving rain off the Clyde, salt-laden air on the Ayrshire and Forth coasts, and the freeze-thaw cycles common from late October through March accelerate corrosion on cheaper aluminium sections, degrade rubber seals on automatic sliders and seize unmaintained roller shutter curtains. Specifying for the local climate — marine-grade fixings, properly graded thresholds, the right IP rating on access control hardware — is what separates an entrance that lasts fifteen years from one that needs warranty calls inside two.
